TRUE MIXED PRACTICE

TRUE MIXED PRACTICE - Full Time Veterinarian

We are looking for another full time Vet to join our TRULY MIXED PRACTICE team of 5 vets. We are not just any mixed practice……. we are a team of motivated, passionate vets and nurses that care not only about our client’s pets but also about our client’s livestock businesses and their bottom line.

Across our two practices, we service 12 small towns in the North Burnett and Callide Valley regions. Our small animal workload is full of interesting cases and we perform orthopaedic and complicated soft tissue surgeries in house. We provide lots of on farm services and each vet has their own fully equipped car with inverter and fridge drawer. We also send a vet nurse on farm with our vets to help with their jobs, so their day run as smoothly as possible. Our large animal work includes a variety of beef cattle commercial and seed stock stud enterprises, small scale feedlots, performance horse studs and during the equine breeding season we operate a small on farm equine breeding centre where there is plenty of opportunity to fine tune your skills in semen collection and processing as well as chilled and frozen artificial insemination of mares.

We are ideally looking for a new team member that will be based out of our Mundubbera practice and is keen to lead our large animal team, but still willing to see some small animal cases. This work will consist mostly of Cattle preg testing + bull testing + AI + calvings, prolapses, lameness workups and some surgical cases (eye enucleations + tail/claw amputations) and for equine enthusiasts- equine dentals, lameness workups, xrays, soft tissue surgery and routine examinations and vaccinations + reproduction.  However, for the right person, we are willing to modify the role to suit the applicant and can create the mix of work that you desire.

We have all the bells and whistles of small and large animal equipment that you will need to complete your job, but if there is anything that we don’t have, that you want, and can justify, we will buy it for you. Don’t have your Pregcheck or Bullcheck accreditation- no problem! Our own vets are examiners so we can organise any additional training that you will need and then facilitate your examinations.

An Amazing Part of the Country: Mundubbera is centrally located being only 2 hours drive from the beach and 4 hours drive to Brisbane.  Daily flights to Brisbane are only a stone throw away. We have our own Cania Gorge and Wuruma dam for those who like fishing, camping, bushwalking and water sports, not to mention campdrafting, polo x and rodeos for the equine enthusiasts. We have many of the conveniences of a large rural centre but the old fashioned values of a small community and it won’t be long before you will feel like a celebrity walking up the main street of town.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A team player who isn’t afraid ‘to give it a go”. Attitude means everything to our team!
  • A person who has clear goals for their career and a desire to continue to grow and learn;
  • A motivated ‘people’ person with excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Someone who wants to be part of the community and can easily build rapport with our loyal clients
  • Ideally have at least one years experience in practice but confident new graduates can apply
  • Registered as a Veterinary Surgeon in QLD

Pay is relative to the value and enthusiasm you bring – being well above award. A work vehicle and mobile phone are provided. Ideally we would like you to be full time however, we are flexible with rosters and working hours- just ask and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Afterhours will be 1:4 weekends, 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave. We strongly encourage attendance at seminars, workshops and annual conferences to help you network with colleagues and explore your special interests.

Our business is built on a personal, professional and caring service and we are looking for a vet that is bursting at the seams to ‘get involved’ and really wants to help us make a difference with a modern approach to herd health and animal care. If you have the drive and desire to be part of our high achieving team, please call us now on: (07) 4166 1285 or send an email to: monto@montovet.com.au
